Disney in 2020-Part 2 Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge

This Thanksgiving, my family and I went to Disney World and got to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It was like your transported to the planet of Batuu, cast members are workers there, they have stormtroopers watching your every move, and you can try the famous blue milk! (which was surprisingly good.)

In Galaxy’s Edge you can build droids, eat in the café, and pilot the Millennium Falcon on Smugglers Run. But the best attraction on Batuu is one of the new rides, Rise of the Resistance! Rise of the Resistance is an interactive ride that puts you in the center of the war between the First Order and the Resistance.

Disney uses a Virtual Queue for Rise of the Resistance – to get a spot in the queue, you have to wake up and get a boarding pass on the My Disney Experience app. The call time was 7 AM and it all done by just a click of a button. However, if you are not able to get a boarding pass in the morning, they open back up at 2 PM if you are in the park. Once you are given a boarding pass group, you can keep track of which group is “Now Boarding” also on the My Disney Experience app.  We were assigned boarding group 62, and were able to board about 2:00 in the afternoon – which was about 4 hours after the park opened.

The duration of the of the ride was about 25 minutes. It starts in an enclosed room where you listen to a hologram and wait for instructions from your fellow Resistance Spies. You then board a ship which attempts to take you to the Rebel base but oh…

You then board a ship which attempts to take you to the Rebel base but oh no! A tractor beam from the Star Destroyer catches you! The stormtroopers board your ship and you are now captured by the First Order. They try to get information out of you in interrogation, but you get saved by the Resistance! A high-speed chase starts as you try to hide from the First Order Guards. The escape pods right within your reach…do you make it out alive?
