Five Vacations to Consider Taking Before Your Children (Or Grandchildren) Grow Up
There are certain trips that are more, dare we say, '“magical” when you can see them through a child’s eyes. While some family vacations are better suited for older kids or even adult children, we have rounded up five that we think are doable to tackle when your kids are still starry-eyed and young.
U.S. National and State Parks
For the outdoorsy, nature loving family, a trip to visit one of the U.S. National and State Parks is a must when kids are young. You can hike, bike, raft, and cruise your way through one of the 58 National parks across the beautiful country. Yellowstone and the Great Smoky Mountains are perhaps the most well known, but don’t forgot to consider a few of the lesser known but still staggering parks: Redwood National and State Parks, Joshua Tree National Park, and the Florida Everglades uniquely offer their own wonder and provide an excellent getaway to spend with your kids.
African Safari
Is there anything better than the idea of taking your animal loving kids to see nature and wildlife in their own, uninhibited wonder? Head to Kruger National Park in search of the Big Five (Lion, Leopard, Elephant, Rhino and Buffalo) with a trusted and knowledgable tour guide. Prefer a water tour? Okavango Delta Explorations in Botswana offers river cruises where you can feel like you’re on a real life Jungle Cruise (hopefully the tour guides will have the same humor as at WDW…let us know if this is a must for you and we’ll put in a request!).
Road Trip Across Europe
With over 50 countries spanning an area only sightly larger than the United States, get your cultural fill with a road trip across Europe. Consider saving some cash by renting an RV to take in all the sites, or splurge and hire a private driver to take your crew around. You’ll see more in a two week cross continent trip than you will be able to believe. It’s a bucket list kind of trip that will only be made sweeter if you experience it with your family.
U.S. History Trails
Perfectly aged for pre-teens or early teens (around the time they start leaning about U.S. history and government), give your kids a taste of a real life history lesson and take them on a trip to visit to some of the country’s best historical sites. Washington D.C. offers monuments, museums and photo ops in front of the White House and Capital Building, while Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Boston’s Freedom Trail are all chock full of history. Watch through their eyes as history comes to life and memories are made.
Disney Theme Parks
Did you think we’d let this Blog Post wrap up without a mention of the most iconic childhood vacation there is? Disney Theme Parks offer unmatched entertainment and fun for adults and kids of all ages, and staying on property at one of the WDW or WDL Resorts offers accommodations galore and unparalleled service.
