As you have likely heard, the CDC has recently released new guidelines requiring a negative COVID test prior to boarding a plane entering the United States. The new requirements goes into affect January 26, 2021.

Right now, I’m working on making arrangements for on-site COVID testing for my clients headed to Mexico and the Caribbean, but I wanted to take a moment to answer some of the questions that have been flooding my inbox.

Q: Is my resort providing COVID testing on-site?

A: Many resorts are offering testing on-site, check with me and I can let you know.

Q: What if my resort isn’t offering testing on-site?

A: If your resort isn’t offering testing on site, there’s a very good chance they can make arrangements to have a certified clinic come in and perform a test for you.

Q: Will I get my test back in time?

A: In most cases, tests are promised back within 72 hours to ensure you can meet the requirements when you check in for your flight home.  Your resort will assist in making an appointment for your testing that will ensure your tests are back in time to meet all requirements.

Q: What if my test comes back positive?

A: As was the case before, if your test positive for COVID-19 you will not be allowed to board the plane back into the country.  Many resorts are covering the cost for any extended stays due to quarantine requirements resulting from a positive test.

Q: Will my travel insurance cover me if my test is positive?

A: This depends on the coverage you have. Let’s chat to go over the terms and conditions of your policy.
