Our Top Ten Travel Tips: Part Two

If you tuned in last week, we posted part one of a two part blog series and shared five of our top ten travel tips. Read on this week as we round out the list!

6. Back Up Travel Documents and ID

To avoid a huge headache at the airport in the event that your passport, ID, etc. gets lost or stolen, we suggest scanning and saving critical travel documents and forms of ID to the cloud or Dropbox. It will expedite a hold up at TSA should the unfortunate happen.

7. Book Flights During the Week

Heaviest airport days are the weekends, Monday mornings, and Thursday afternoons. To beat the crowd, consider booking flights midweek if your travel schedule allows it. An additional way to allow for a stress free security experience is to get TSA pre-check. We suggest this for anyone who travels more than once a year, as it will pay for itself with all the time you will save!

8. Pack a Suitcase Inside a Suitcase

Traveling abroad and planning to bring home a lot of souvenirs? Pack a carry-on inside of a slightly larger, empty suitcase. When you get to your destination you will have an entire suitcase to bring home treasures! Don’t need that much room? Pack old sleep shirts, socks etc. that you no longer want and shed them throughout the trip, allowing for more room on your return home.

9. Be Polite to Gate Agents

If trouble arises before a flight, the most valuable person around will be the airline gate agent, so make a point to smile, ask how their day is, and make friends with them. You will have a better chance of making it on an overbooked flight, or in case of a cancelled flight, they can hook you up on the next available departure. If you have smooth sailing travel day, you will have made a stressful job a little easier for a stranger by paying it forward in kindness, which never hurts to do!

10. Purchase Travel Insurance

Travel insurance covers more than just a cancelled trip. If you lose your luggage, have to rebook flights, or need a last minute hotel change, travel insurance is your best friend when the unexpected happens during your trip. And it’s surprisingly inexpensive! Ask us for a quote next time you travel.

Travel doesn’t have to be hectic, unorganized, or stressful. With a few each tips and tricks your next getaway will have you feeling relaxed and rejuvenated, as all travel should do!
