The Most Patriotic Cities in America (Other Than Your Own Hometown)

Throughout the country, there are many spots that you can see a love for America. Some spots take it to the next level, however, especially around the 4th of July. While many people love spending the holiday at home with family and friends, it’s also an extremely popular travel week (one of the busiest of the year!). If you consider getting out of town next 4th of July, consider these patriotic cities.

A town with a heavy veteran population, Billings offers the largest firework display in Montana and an all day patriotic fest to celebrate America’s Independence. Included in the festival is a pancake breakfast, a run, and two parades.

Seaside, Florida and 30A Area

If you want to people watch and be among adorable families decked out in patriotic seersucker, look no further than Seaside/30A area of Florida. While many Florida cities were in the running to making our list, Seaside is about as All American as you can get; the movie the Truman Show was filmed there for that exact reason! The Seaside Community plans celebrations and activities throughout the year, and the 4th of July is no exception.

Barnstable, Massachusetts

Barnstable has one of the highest voting percentages in the country, with 67.5% of residents exercising their right to vote in each election. If you happen to make your way there next July, you can start the day with a patriotic parade and end it with a fabulous firework display.

South Haven, Michigan

Michigan in July is a beautiful place to be, with long days and breathtaking sunsets. The town has a fabulous 4th of July parade to celebrate complete with floats and local law enforcement is recognized. The day ends with a spectacular firework display over the lake with the South Haven lighthouse at the forefront. It’s about as Pure Michigan and Pure American as you can get.

Omaha, Nebraska

A deeply patriotic place to visit with an All American feel, Omaha is a great place for families to visit with lots to do. If you are a fan of firework displays head to Omaha over the 4th, where the city hosts eight fireworks displays from July 3-5!

Springfield, Ohio

The city of Springfield, Ohio is about as patriotic as they come; and they have awards to prove it! In 2004, Springfield was named an “All American City”, which is the highest honor a community can receive. While they have celebrations over the 4th, they really pull out all the stops for their Memorial Day Parade.
