Unforgettable, Underrated Trips to Take with Your Best Friends: Part I
Traveling with family or your significant other is what usually comes to mind when you think of a getaway, but vacationing with friends can be just as memorable and rejuvenating! We’ve thought outside-of-the-box to bring you our favorite fly under the radar spots. Check these out for your next friend-filled vacation!
Ambergris Caye, Belize
Want to a beach vacation, but with a unique twist? Ambergris Caye, Belize may be your next great beach escape. The price tag for a trip to Belize is surprising less than you might think, and the stunning beaches rival those of Mexico or the Caribbean. Grab your best pals and spend days snorkeling in the crystal clear Barrier Reef and evenings exploring the many restaurants and bars Ambergris Caye has to offer. You won’t be disappointed!
2. Sedona, Arizona
Usually when people discuss traveling to Arizona, Phoenix or neighboring Scottsdale come up, but the state has many other beautiful cities to check out, including stunning Sedona. If you and your pals are looking to connect with both nature and your spiritual side, look no further than this breathtaking location located an hour and a half north of Phoenix. While there, make sure to take the journey down to the bottom of Boynton Canyon, where the earth’s energy is said to be highly concentrated, and visit the famous Mii Amo, a spa located at the base of the canyon.
3. Strasbourg, France
Located about 300 miles east of beloved Paris, Strasbourg is a charming, less crowded spot to visit in France. Since the city is located at the border of France and Germany, you will find a cultural mix unlike anywhere else. The neighborhood of La Petit France is a must-see while there, and you can also tour the European Parliament building, as Strasbourg hosts the seat. For a mix old world charm/modern world government power, put Strasbourg on your list to places to explore with your best pals.
4. “The Islands”, Massachusetts
The islands south of Cape Cod are collectively referred to as “The Islands” and each have their own distinct feel. Marta’s Vineyard, Nantucket, the Elizabeth Islands and several smaller, more remote islands dot the area. It’s fairly easy to get around the islands after taking a ferry from Hyannis, Massachusetts or a short flight on Cape Air, so while in the area you can pick one of “The Islands” to stay on and explore more deeply, or see them all! Our pick if we could only visit one? Nantucket, of course!
5. Tupelo, Mississippi
Why did Tupelo make our list? As the birthplace of Elvis, home to many boutique hotels, and boasting of a “8 Restaurant Cocktail Trail” in the downtown area, there is literally something for every type of traveling friend group in this southern city with a whole lot of heart. An added bonus? It’s the perfect distance for a road trip from many midwest cities, so you won’t have to break the bank or cash in airline points to get there. You and your friends with no doubt have a memorable time in Tupelo, Honey!
