Off-Season Travel Destinations for Every Month of the Year Part 2: July - December

If you are looking to escape during the second half of the year, you can enjoy off-season pricing and less crowded destinations. Here is our top pick travel location for every month, July through December.

July: South Africa

A South African Safari is a once in a lifetime experience, but that doesn’t mean you can’t be a smart traveler and book at a time to save a little on cost.  South Africa in July is during the colder, drier season, so you will have to dress warm for the early morning drives.  One perk of traveling during this season, however, is it’s much easier to spot wildlife, as the landscape is more bare and brown this time of year.

August: Caribbean Islands

Want to save some cash and take a slight weather risk while traveling to tropical paradise?  Book during hurricane season. October is typically the stormiest month in the Caribbean, so if you go a little earlier in August you will enjoy price drops and if lucky, pristine weather with no crowds!  If such a gamble isn’t your thing, pay a little more and head farther south to Greneda or the ABC islands (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curaçao) which lie outside the Hurricane Belt. This is the type of risk/benefit trip that we strongly recommend travel insurance for!

September: Orlando

Wondering when the prime time of year is to visit Disney or Universal Studios? September and January are the two choice times of year to visit Orlando, with ideal temperatures and kids mostly back to school after summer or winter breaks. If you want to take advantage of shorter wait times, these months also offer the quietest park days.  Traveling with younger kids who are not school age yet?  Book in September and take advantage of all the travel perks without the make-up work when you return home.

October: Argentina

Most people don’t think to travel south to Argentina in October, but it can be a wonderful time of year to visit, and much less crowded!  October means mid-spring for the vibrant county, with the cold of winter over and the landscape beginning to green.  Head to Buenos Aires and enjoy mild temperatures, longer days and beautiful botanicals.  If Argentina has been on your short list of places to visit, consider heading there this fall.

November: Hawaii

With slightly higher rainfall averages, November isn’t always the top choice month to visit Hawaii, which can mean some great lodging and excursion deals for you.  While the prospect of rain can scare some people away, the showers you may encounter will typically be brief and you will still get to enjoy the beautiful weather of the islands.  If you are looking for a budget friendly trip to paradise, November can be the perfect time to check Hawaii off your bucket list.

Hawaii

December:  Iceland

Okay hear us out…if you are a fan of colder weather December can be an ideal time to embrace the winter vibe and make the trek to Iceland!  Shorter days as well as drier weather make for a pristine environment to spot the Northern Lights.  Temperatures will be in the 20’s so this is not a trip to book if you can’t handle the chill.  Pack your warmest, chicest parka and explore the beauty of Iceland in December.

Sometimes thinking outside of the box when it comes to travel can pay off big time! A wonderful affect of traveling is it creates the desire to travel and create memories more often. With extra money in your pocket after one adventure, your next one can be that much closer to a reality.
