On a recent visit, the Castaway Destinations crew stayed in a 2 bedroom cabin with a loft. The cabin featured a nicely-appointed kitchen, wood-burning fireplace (which is standard in many rooms at Big Cedar), and comfortable bedding. One of the best features of the cabin was the deck, overlooking the water and the marina.

In touring the property, we were able to see one of the suites on property: The Carriage House. Located in between the Worman House and the main lobby, the Carriage House boasts an open floor plan with wood burning fireplace, freestanding whirlpool tub, and an outdoor porch swing surrounded by an array of wildflowers. The suite is absolutely gorgeous.

If camping in more your style, the Camps at Long Creek (part of the Big Cedar property) provide unique glamping opportunities with lakeside tents and airstream trailers.

While there a copious walking trails, outdoor activities, pools, a spa, and world-class golf (all of which may be a blog post in themselves), we would be remiss to not mention the delectable dining choices found throughout the property. From Osage Restaurant and Buffalo Bar at the Top of the Rock to the Truman Café, the food is delicious and many of the menu offerings are locally sourced. If you would rather enjoy your food in the privacy of your cabin, full menus are also available.

Needless to say, Big Cedar Lodge is a personal favorite of our family and there is no doubt it will be one yours, too. However, a word to the wise, the resort books months in advance and it is best to start thinking about your Big Cedar Lodge getaway now.
