Our Jamaican Vacation Series - Part Two

We recently returned from a family vacation, where we had the distinct pleasure of staying at the Moon Palace Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.

The resort is approximately 90 minutes from the Montego Bay airport and most vacation packages include a shared airport transfer.  You can also upgrade to a private transfer, for approximately $200 round trip.  After an early morning flight from Kansas City, our kids napped for most of the ride from the airport to the resort; while we took in the sights.

Upon arrival, we had our temperatures checked and our bags sanitized before we were given a welcome drink and led into the beautiful lobby.  Check-in was quick and easy.  Moon Palace does have a time-share program, and at check-in we were invited to a “Welcome Breakfast”.  We knew the breakfast was a sales pitch, which we politely declined.

All staff members of the resort wore masks during their interactions with us.  Guests were required to wear masks in the lobby, but not at the pool, beach or when sitting down in restaurants.

Recently renovated, Moon Palace Resort boasts over 700 rooms, many with oceanfront views.  It also features multiple restaurants, several quick dining options, and a plethora of delicious drinks.  Room service is also complimentary and is available 24 hours a day.  Mini-bars are not currently stocked, but can be with a quick call to Room Service.

We’ll be sharing more detailed reviews of the dining options in an upcoming blog (spoiler alert – they were all delicious!).

Being that we were traveling with the kids, we decided to upgrade our room to the Two-Bedroom Presidential Suite.  The room gave us some additional space and provided an all-important second bathroom for our teenage girls.  The room was absolutely impeccable, and it is easy to see the numerous steps taken by the Palace Resort company to ensure the room was thoroughly cleaned and sanitized for the safety of their guests.

Back to the resort itself, the property boasts multiple pools and pool bars, cabanas on the beach, included watersports, and The FlowRider surf simulator.  By the end of our vacation, our son Evan was an expert on both surfing and body-boarding!

What truly makes Moon Palace, Ocho Rios, special are the people and the over-the-top customer service.  From the wait staff at the pool to the wine sommelier to the front desk agents, no request was too much and everything was always “It’s Jamaica, You Know How it Goes.”

We can’t wait to go back!
